Lolo Pass Road improvements

Stabilize the riverbank and prevent erosion, and preserve the road surface by adding two inches of pavement from Hwy 26 to Muddy Fork Road.


To help protect the roadway from damage in future flood events and to preserve access to the national forest.

  • Construction complete: Oct. 2021

Traffic impact

Single-lane closures are expected and may cause delays of up to 20 minutes between Hwy 26 and Muddy Fork Road, but a complete closure is not anticipated.

Design of roadway.


  • Project estimate is $4.2 million
  • Funding is provided from the Federal Lands Access Program matched with County Road Funds.
