A swearing-in ceremony for Commissioner Sonya Fischer, who was appointed to the Board of County Commissioners earlier this month, will be held next Tuesday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room, Public Services Building, 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will air live on the Clackamas County Government Channel and be streamed online.
Fischer’s seat, Position #5, was held by Jim Bernard before he became Clackamas County Chair in January. Fischer’s term runs through December 2018. The position, as all board seats are, is nonpartisan.
Seventy-eight people applied for the Position #5 vacancy.
The oaths will be given, and the event will be led, by the Honorable Deanne L. Darling of Clackamas County Circuit Court.
There are eleven total elected positions for Clackamas County. Positions include the five commissioners, Assessor, County Clerk, District Attorney, Justice of the Peace, Sheriff, and Treasurer.
The swearing-in event is ceremonial in nature, as Fischer was sworn in earlier this month.
