For the 24th consecutive year, Water Environment Services (WES) received two Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
WES was honored for its comprehensive annual financial reports for the fiscal year that ended last June. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government body and its management.
WES operates five wastewater treatment facilities in Clackamas County that process more than six billion gallons of sewage each year.
“WES is as committed to being a responsible steward of ratepayer dollars as we are to protecting public health and the environment,” said WES Director Greg Geist. “The consistently dedicated work of our finance team helps WES to maintain the highest quality of service at some of the lowest monthly rates in the region, while preserving the trust of our customers.”
WES’ reports were judged by an impartial panel and deemed to meet high standards, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals.
