Make a difference!

Clackamas County is forming a youth outreach team, and we need you!

If you look around at the people who attend a typical meeting in our county, you’ll see a lot of the same faces. We have some amazingly passionate, active volunteers who regularly show up, and we’re thankful to have them. However, we don’t have a lot of diversity. But what if we told you that all you have to do to have a voice in Clackamas County is show up?

Would you join us?

We are actively seeking fresh voices to join us in our work of making this community a better place. Our first step is assembling a team of young people who want to make a difference. We’re kicking off our plan with a series of three meetings for young people to come together, eat some pizza and tell us what they know and like about Clackamas County, what they want us to prioritize for change, and how they can be a part of that journey.

“Our goal is to have these events be fun and interactive,” said Katie Wilson, the community involvement program coordinator. “These are listening sessions, and we want to hear from youth.”

We’re looking for high schoolers who live in Clackamas County and are available to attend all three meetings. This is a great chance to meet like-minded students from across the county and build your resume. The original idea for this initiative came from an intern, so we know young people have great ideas.
“We’re hoping that they’ll learn more about what happens at the county, they’ll feel listened to, and they can help create a program that they would want to participate in,” Katie said.

If that sounds good to you, text or call Katie to RSVP at 971-3475723, or email her at

Meet ups will be on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and will include plenty of pizza and snacks to fuel creativity.

Based on the information gathered at our first workshop, we will plan an interactive discussion to develop a strategy for engagement. This could be a traditional council or it could be something more innovative. The goal is for the plan to be student driven.
