The North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) and five senior/community centers in Clackamas County are continuing a 20-year tradition this year of honor long-term couples, even if they can’t gather in person.
Since 1999, NCPRD and the Milwaukie Center have offered a Golden Anniversary event to honor couples who have been together for 50 years or more.
Milwaukie Center Recreation Coordinator Tina Johnson says, “We’re excited to partner with other community centers this year to continue the tradition by connecting virtually with homebound seniors, allowing them to safely celebrate this wonderful occasion.”
This year this free event will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, June 19, on local community access channels and YouTube. Couples will be celebrated with a ceremony, music and a complementary meal delivered directly to their home (from participating centers only). Couples are invited to submit a photo of themselves in advance to have it featured during the event.
To register, couples are asked to contact their local participating senior/community center – see list below – by Wednesday, June 10.
- Canby Adult Center
- Estacada Community Center
- Gladstone Senior Center
- Molalla Adult Community Center
- NCPRD Milwaukie Center
This year’s Golden Anniversary is sponsored by Bob’s Red Mill.
