I-205 nighttime closures at Sunnyside Road June 28 and 29 for road improvements in Clackamas Regional Center area

Main Content

In order for road improvements to occur, I-205 southbound and northbound will be closed at Sunnyside Road in the Clackamas area from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m., the nights of June 28 and 29.

The closure will allow workers to relocate utilities in preparation of widening the Sunnyside Road bridge to add a 10-foot wide combined sidewalk and bike lane on each side and install a new bridge railing and LED lighting.

Travelers will detour using the I-205 on- and off-ramps at Sunnyside Road. Sunnyside Road will remain open during this I-205 closure. Travelers are asked to slow down and use caution near the work zone.

Road closure updates will be posted at

The closure is part of the two-year Clackamas Regional Center Mobility Improvements Project designed to improve safety and traffic flow for all travelers, including new sidewalks and bike lanes, restriped roadways, new traffic signals, I-205 bridge widening, stormwater facilities and ADA ramps. This project is funded through tax increment financing from the Clackamas Town Center Urban Renewal District. All work is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

The Transportation Department is focused on protecting the health of its employees and the public, and also on ensuring that county roads continue to be safe and accessible for those who need to travel. Construction is one segment of the economy permitted during this time because workers are outside and can keep appropriate physical distance. Therefore, we are moving forward on projects that will benefit the community, such as this one. For county COVID-19 pandemic updates, visit
