County awaiting geologist report to determine next steps
Clackamas River Drive remains closed through the first week of January to protect travelers from an unstable slope due to a landslide occurred at milepost 1.9 between OR 213 and Springwater Road.
The county closed Clackamas River Drive on Dec. 20. Road crews removed the landslide debris from the road this week. However, due to the unstable slope there is a risk of additional slides in the area.
Road crews and other experts, including engineers and geologists, are assessing the area and expect to determine appropriate next steps in early January.
Shane Abbott, County Transportation Maintenance Manager, explained, “With more rain on the way and the unstable hillside, we are going to keep the road closed for now to make sure travelers are safe.”
All travelers are asked to stay away from the closed portion of Clackamas River Drive.
