New openings on ABC: Economic Development, Forestry & Vector Control

Clackamas County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on county Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs). These ABCs offer residents the opportunity to become very involved in specific activities and the goals of Clackamas County. 

Individuals interested in this opportunity can apply online or via a paper form that can be obtained from the Public & Government Affairs Department by calling 503-655-8751 or in person at the Public Services Building at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City.

New ABC openings from the past week include: 

Economic Development Commission

This commission has15 vacancies for interested business representatives to volunteer to serve a three-year terms. 

Per the bylaws, the Economic Development Commission (EDC) will advise and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on matters pertaining to the support and growth of a balanced, sustainable economy within the county and cities within the County.   

Clackamas County is committed to balance and diversity of commission membership in the areas of geography, employment, interest, education and experience. Applicants from the business community with demonstrated leadership, commitment or expertise in business and economic development are encouraged to apply.

Forestry Advisory Board

This board is recruiting for five community members to serve on their seven member board.  This board actively participates in providing technical guidance to the Forest Management program staff in forest management and harvest activities, timber land sales and purchases, and stand improvement activities, along with review of public input related to proposed activities.  

Applicants for the Forest Advisory Board must be citizens of Clackamas County, and be Foresters or persons that have professional forestry experience in the forest industry, forest consulting or governmental employment, or have a professional forestry education, and should have working knowledge of the Oregon Forest Practices Act. 

In order to meet advisory board policy requirements for balance and representation, Commissioners are seeking applicants from diverse backgrounds including government, private industry, consulting forestry, forestry education and small woodland management. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on a quarterly basis.

Clackamas County Vector Control District Advisory Board

This board is seeking one (1) volunteer. Members of the board are appointed for four (4) year terms and serve in an advisory capacity to them while acting as the policy-making body, managers of the business, and financial affairs of the Clackamas County Vector Control District.  The District is responsible for the control of mosquitoes and flies, of which some are disease-carrying vectors in the County.  The Oregon State Health Department and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife approve the District’s annual control plan. The five-member board meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
