Join the 2021 Milwaukie Center March for Meals by donating to Meals on Wheels

The Milwaukie Center’s Nutrition Program, operated by the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District, has provided Meals on Wheels to community members in north Clackamas County for the last 40 years. Nutritious meals are made fresh daily and delivered directly to homes by more than 100 dedicated volunteers – rain or shine.

The program serves 250 meals each day to our most vulnerable community members. That’s over 65,000 freshly prepared meals each year that get delivered in an effort to make sure no senior goes hungry in North Clackamas.

Since the start of the pandemic, which resulted in many older adults and vulnerable residents needing to shelter in place, the program saw a 39 percent increase in requested meals. The dedicated staff and volunteer drivers never missed a delivery by increasing capacity and introducing a variety of safety precautions.

However, the cost of each meal is over $6 and federal reimbursement covers less than $3. That means that approximately $3 per meal must be raised through donations. Milwaukie Center’s goal is to never turn anyone away who is eligible, and this annual drive is a crucial fundraising tool to help ensure the program’s success.
