The Board of County Commissioners would like to invite all interested residents and stakeholders to watch and provide comment at the county’s annual Budget Hearings next week.

The hearings kick off Monday, May 24, at 8:30 a.m. A full schedule can be found at www.clackamas.us/budget. The general outline is:

  • Monday, May 24: County service districts (North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District; Enhanced Law Enforcement District; Clackamas Water Environment Services; etc.)
  • Tuesday, May 25 – Wednesday, May 26: General county budget, featuring presentations from county departments
  • Wednesday, May 26, 5:30 p.m.: Public comment period for general county budget
  • Thursday, May 27: Deliberation and action

Clackamas County is broadcasting all Budget Hearings live on the county’s YouTube page (www.youtube.com/ClackamasCounty), the Clackamas County Government Channel, and over Zoom.

All hearings will be held both over Zoom and in-person. However, due to social distancing practices, space within the county’s Hearing Room is limited for in-person viewing. Overflow rooms will be set up, so for any residents wishing to watch the hearings in-person, please know that seating in the Hearing Room is not guaranteed.

Participation

All hearings will be broadcast via Zoom, over which the public will have opportunities to provide comment. Those present in the Hearing Room can also provide comment at appropriate times. Public comment will only be accepted near the end of each service district budget hearing on Monday throughout the day (when prompted by a moderator), and for the overall county budget on Wednesday, May 26, at 5:30 p.m.

For residents wishing to provide public comment over Zoom regarding the service district budgets, as sessions are only slated to last 20-60 minutes, it is recommended that individuals join the meeting at its start time via Zoom.

All meetings next week will use a single Zoom link. That link, other Zoom connectivity information, and telephone information is available under “How to Participate” on the county’s budget page at www.clackamas.us/budget.

The public also has the option of submitting comments via email to bcc@clackamas.us. Those submissions will not be read aloud during the public comment periods, but will be sent to the relevant committee members and added to the record. Please email public comments with the Subject Line of either “County Budget public comment” or “[Service District Name] public comment.” Parties should include their name and area of residence.

All hearings will be archived to the county’s YouTube page.
