Work to occur over Veterans Day and Saturday

Several close races remain in Clackamas County and elections officials have a heightened sense of urgency to provide results for voters and candidates.

Election workers will work Veterans Day and Saturday to process an unprecedented tens of thousands of ballots that were dropped off or mailed by voters who favored voting last minute in the election.

As of Thursday, an estimated 60,000 to 65,000 ballots remain for processing. The estimated number of ballots to be processed is fluid given that ballots postmarked by Election Day can be received through Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Election officials estimate they could complete processing remaining ballots received through Election Day by Saturday night.

Results will be posted by 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 12. You can view results on our website or visit the Oregon Secretary of State website.

Results will not be posted Friday as election workers will focus on verifying signatures and not scanning ballots.

Verifying signatures ensures election security, prevents fraud and is the most time consuming part of processing ballots. Given that voters favored casting their ballot last minute in the election cycle, we have many ballots waiting for signature verification which is the first step in processing ballots.
