New openings on Clackamas County ABCs: County Budget, Emergency Medical Services, Library District, NCPRD, Parks, Planning

Clackamas County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on county Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs). These ABCs offer residents the opportunity to become very involved in specific activities and the goals of Clackamas County.

New ABC openings from the past week include:

In order to have balance and diversity of membership representation in terms of geographic area, gender and experience, commissioners seek volunteers from all backgrounds and areas of the county. The deadline for applications has been reopened from Aug. 18 to Aug. 25.* For more information, please contact Budget Manager Diane Padilla at 503-742-5425.

The council is comprised of eleven members representing all phases of emergency medical response, and reflects a balance and diversity of membership in the areas of geography, gender, interest, and experience. Applicants are required to live within the NCPRD boundaries east of Interstate 205. Residents from the district service area who are dedicated and committed to parks and recreation services are encouraged to apply. The terms of each opening run from July 2016 through June 2019. County residents with an interest and/or expertise in land use are encouraged to apply. The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of every month in Oregon City.   • Clackamas County Budget Committee: This committee has one opening for a three-year term. This committee advises on the annual budget for the primary Clackamas County government. Applicants for the position must be residents of the county and be available to attend a series of meetings during May and/or June to review and approve a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The County operates on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year. The committee also meets quarterly to review and discuss budget-related matters.
  • Emergency Medical Services Council: This council has three openings: one for a medical director for an EMS agency in Clackamas County, one representative of a commercial ambulance service provider, and one representative of consumers of ambulance services, each to serve for three-year terms. The council advises commissioners and the county Health, Housing and Human Services Department in matters relating to emergency medical response and ambulance services.   • Library District of Clackamas County Budget Committee: This committee has one opening to serve a three-year term. Members of the committee participate annually with the Board of County Commissioners in receiving and reviewing the district budget. Members approve the budget and district tax rate each year.     The committee is seeking applicants with a background in finance and public library services. Applicants from the district's service area who are dedicated and committed to public library services are encouraged to apply.   • NCPRD Advisory Board: This board has one opening to serve a four-year term. Members of the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) Advisory Board advise commissioners on the design, planning, development and operation of parks in the district area. The board meets with commissioners twice a year and publishes an annual report in August. More information can be found on the NCPRD website.
  • NCPRD Budget Committee: This committee has openings for two volunteers to serve three-year terms. Members of the committee participate in budget meetings in the spring and approve the budget and district tax rate each year. More information can be found on the NCPRD website.

  • Parks Advisory Board: This board has openings for three regular members and two alternates, each of which carries a four-year term. Members represent the rural, unincorporated areas of the county to advise commissioners on all matters pertaining to county park policy and the management, development, acquisition and disposition of park property.

    Applicants must be residents of Clackamas County. The board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the county Development Services Building in Oregon City.   • Planning Commission: This commission has one opening with a four-year term that begins on May 1. Members review and provide recommendations on matters pertaining to land use. Recommendations are made on the basis of requirements set forth in Oregon law, the county comprehensive plan, and county ordinances.
