Clackamas County Water Environment Services (WES) is proud to join other volunteers from the cities of Gladstone and Oregon City in a trash removal project along a stretch of the Clackamas River that is prone to littering, especially during the summer months.
The inaugural "High Rocks Summer Cleanup" will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon in the High Rocks area of Gladstone. SOLVE, a statewide nonprofit that brings volunteers together to take care of parks, neighborhoods, and natural areas, will manage the cleanup project, provide supplies to pick up trash, and take care of the trash disposal.
"WES is grateful to Gladstone and Oregon City for their work with SOLVE to help create this collaborative stewardship opportunity to help restore a beautiful area of the county," said WES Director Greg Geist.
WES is also currently exploring ways to work with Gladstone and Oregon City to develop solutions to reduce graffiti in the High Rocks area.
Volunteers for the High Rocks Summer Cleanup will meet at 77 82nd Drive in Gladstone. To register, and to learn more about the project and SOLVE, visit SOLVE's website.
