UPDATE -- XENA FOUND SAFE: Milwaukie man needs help locating his lost service animal

Xena and Deputy

UPDATE (June 30, 2019) -- XENA FOUND

Last night, June 29, 2019, deputies received a phone call regarding the location of Xena around 10:00 p.m.  This person and his roommates had apparently taken Xena in after finding her.  He told the deputy that he called when he realized we were looking for her.

Xena received unusually good treatment from the deputies as they let her ride in the front seat on the way to meet Mr. Capri (Larry).  She appeared to be in good health.  It was hard to tell who was more excited, Larry or Xena.  What was obvious is they were both extremely happy to be reunited.

Thank you to all who kept an eye out for Xena and for the coverage of this incident.  It truly made all the difference.

EARLIER (June 29, 2019) -- Milwaukie man needs help locating lost service animal

CCSO Case #19-014990

On Friday June 28, 2019 and approximately 12:30 a.m. Lawrence "Larry" Capri, 58, of Milwaukie, lost his service dog "Xena" while she was off leash.  They had been in the open field next to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church located at 14700 SE Rupert Dr in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Capri is partially blind and considered disabled.  He took Xena there to walk her off-leash in the fenced area.  He stated Xena usually stays with him and he wasn’t sure what happened to her.  He walked around the area and the neighborhood but could not find her.

Capri said Xena is two years old and he has had her since she was a puppy.  He said she is chipped and registered with Multnomah County, but he had taken off her collar when they arrived at the church.

Capri said Xena is very friendly, but needs daily medication for a pancreatic disorder.  He said she is approximately 70 lbs with tan and black coloring.  She is a long haired German Shepherd.

If anyone has information regarding Zena’s location, please contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Capri is willing to speak with the media regarding this.  If you are interested, please e-mail Clackamas County Sheriff’s PIO.
