Sheriff's Office, Happy Valley PD respond to motorcycle/pedestrian injury crash; witnesses sought

At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Happy Valley Police Departmentattempted to catch up to a motorcycle traveling at a noticeably high rate of speed along SE Sunnyside Road.

A deputy turned a corner and found a motorcycle had struck a pedestrian on SE Sunnyside Road at SE 147th Ave. in Happy Valley. 

The pedestrian -- identified as Greyson Mbock, 18, of Happy Valley -- was struck by the eastbound motorcycle at the intersection. Mr. Mbock was transported to a local hospital by Life Flight with life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle rider was identified as Joseph Castro, 20, of Happy Valley. Mr. Castro was transported by AMR ambulance to a local hospital, where he was released then interviewed by Sheriff’s Office detectives.

At this writing, investigators believe Mr. Mbock was in the crosswalk legally crossing SE Sunnyside Road at the time of the crash. Investigators also believe speed was a factor in the collision.


The Sheriff’s Office is seeking any witnesses to this crash.
