On March 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., the Wells Fargo bank at 8699 SW Main Street in Wilsonville, Oregon was robbed. The suspect was arrested as he fled the scene.

Matthew Charles Herstrom, age 30, of Portland, was arrested and lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on a charge of Robbery II.

Mr. Herstrom allegedly entered the Wells Fargo branch and presented a note stating he was robbing the bank. An observant and quick-thinking bank employee activated an alarm and called 911. The Wilsonville Police Department arrived within minutes of the call as Mr. Herstrom exited the bank.

Mr. Herstrom ran north across Wilsonville Road and was chased on foot by Wilsonville Police and a concerned citizen.

The concerned citizen in the parking lot had witnessed Mr. Herstrom leave the bank and run from police. He ran after Mr. Herstrom and assisted in chasing him northbound almost half a mile where he was captured by the Wilsonville Police.

No one was injured during the robbery or chase.
