Sheriff's Office arrests suspect after attempt to elude, crash

On April 10, 2012, at about 1:22 p.m., near SE 82nd Avenue and SE Luther Road, Clackamas County deputies attempted to stop a Honda Accord for a traffic violation.

The suspect driver allegedly attempted to elude the deputy -- driving north into Portland.

At 1:24 p.m., at SE 92nd Avenue and SE Woodstock Blvd, the suspect crashed into a Rescue Rooter van towing a trailer. The van was pushed into a Subaru Outback and then came to rest against the New Copper Penny restaurant.

The drivers and passengers of both victim vehicles reported no injuries.

The suspect -- Levi Rhyne, age 29 years -- was taken into custody at the scene. He was transported to Adventist Medical Center with minor injuries sustained during the crash.

Investigators reportedly discovered methamphetamines inside the suspect's car.

Levi Rhyne is on felony probation for ID Theft and Fraud.

The Portland Police Bureau is investigating the crash.

Following medical treatment, Mr. Rhyne will be booked into the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

  • Attempt to Elude -- Felony
  • Reckless Driving
  • Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance -- Methamphetamine
