Sheriff's Office responds after Estacada teen dies in tree-climbing accident

In the afternoon hours on Sunday, April 22, 2012, on the 31000 block of SE Lawrence Road in Estacada, Oregon, a 15-year-old male died in what is believed to be a tree-climbing accident.

Family members called 911 at about 10 p.m. C-COM dispatched the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Estacada Fire to the scene, where it was quickly determined the juvenile was deceased.

Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives and the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident, and it was determined to be an accidental death caused by traumatic injuries sustained in the fall.

The exact circumstances of the fall are unknown, as the subject was alone at the time of the accident. It is believed the subject was climbing a large cedar tree and, due to unknown reasons, fell and died as a result of his injuries.
