Highway worker struck, killed while placing construction signs; tips sought

At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday July 10, 2012, a 48-year-old highway worker -- Gregory Priest, of Salem, Oregon -- was struck and killed while putting up signs warning of road construction near Canby.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Canby Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on South New Era Road near S. Haines Rd in Canby.

Canby Fire Department personnel arrived and worked to resuscitate the man. Priest was flown by Life Flight to Emanuel Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car -- Bruce Dancer, age 40, of Aurora, Oregon -- was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. A booking photo is linked above.
