Sheriff's Office arrests robbery suspect in Welches; additional tips sought

On the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested a suspect in a home-invasion-type robbery that occurred early this morning in Welches, OR.

Sheriff's Office deputies and a Sandy Police officer responded to a residence on East Twinberry Loop in Welches after dispatch received a 911 phone call. The caller indicated there had been a robbery at the location and someone was injured.

There was a weapon involved in the robbery, and a victim was taken by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland due to injuries. The injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. At this time, the victim's name and information is not being released.

Detectives later responded to the scene and investigated throughout the morning before making an arrest. Sergio Cruz-Hernandez, 20, of Welches, was taken into custody on a Robbery I charge. He was transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged. Additional charges are likely to follow.
