At about 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Number One Nail Salon at 10435 SE 82nd Avenue. A salon employee had reported that $20,000 cash had been stolen from her purse, and she thought a customer had taken the money, because that customer had been sitting on a chair where the victim's purse had been placed.

The victim told deputies she had this large amount of cash because she'd been planning to go shopping for an engagement ring with her fiance.

The victim confronted the customer at her car, and the customer remained until police arrived.

Deputies conducted a thorough investigation. All of the missing cash was found under the driver's seat of the customer's car.

The customer -- Theresa Costello, age 37, of Milwaukie -- reportedly admitted to having taken the cash.

Theresa Costello was arrested and lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Theft in the First Degree. Additionally, she was also placed on a hold for a fugitive warrant issued by the State of Washington arising out of a Theft in the First Degree charge in that state. Her full booking info is here.

Theresa Costello's booking photo is attached.

The victim is not available for interviews at this time.
