At approximately 8:10 a.m. on Satrurday, August 30, 2014, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the report of pedestrian struck by a TriMet bus. The collision occurred at the Clackamas Town Center Transit Center MAX Station.
A TriMet bus was reportedly turning from the Clackamas Town Center parking lot to the TriMet garage entrance at the end of the MAX Green Line. At the same time, a pedestrian was reportedly riding a skateboard down the ramp from the MAX platform to the west. Initial reports are the pedestrian made a sudden turn from the sidewalk to the north and crossed in front of the bus. The bus struck the pedestrian -- causing significant injury to the pedestrian and damage to the front of the bus on the passenger side.
The Clackamas County Collision Reconstruction and Forensic Team (CRAFT) responded to investigate the collision: http://www.clackamas.us/sheriff/craft.html The CRAFT unit investigates fatal and serious-injury crashes in Clackamas County. This collision is currently under investigation.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital by American Medical Response ambulance where his current condition is unknown.
The pedestrian has been identified as John Alan Wilson, 29, of Gresham.
