At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 , Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Happy Valley Police responded to an injury traffic crash on SE Valley View Terrace near SE St Lucy Ln. in unincorporated Happy Valley.

Initial reports indicated that a vehicle struck a female pedestrian -- who was unconscious but breathing with a head injury as a result.

The injured pedestrian was transported by ambulance to OHSU.

The Clackamas County Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Team (CRAFT) assisted with the crash investigation -- which revealed that the driver of the vehicle traveled north on Valley View Terrace and reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle then veered left and struck one of two pedestrians who were appropriately walking on the road.

The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation. Names of the involved parties will not be released, and there are no criminal charges at this time.

Three Clackamas County cities -- Damascus, Happy Valley, and Wilsonville -- contract with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office to provide municipal police services.
