Serial bank-robbery suspect arrested

Narong Duangchathom, 27 years old, of Portland Several local agencies working together tracked a serial bank-robbery suspect and arrested him today (Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014) at 12:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov 20, 2013, the Chase Bank located at the Johnson Creek Fred Meyer was robbed by an Asian male who threatened to shoot the bank teller.

The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation, and developed a person of interest.

On Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 the US Bank at Eastport Plaza in Portland was robbed by a similarly described Asian male in a similar manner.

On Saturday, November 29, 2014 the US Bank at SE 82nd and SE Causey was robbed by a similarly described Asian male in a similar manner.

Forensic evidence recovered from the first robbery identified the robber as Narong Duangchathom, 27 years old, of Portland.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force began a fugitive investigation, as Duangchathom was wanted for multiple counts of Identity Theft.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force obtained a federal arrest warrant for Duangchathom.

Today (Dec. 4, 2014) at about 12:30 p.m., the Chase Bank inside of Fred Meyers at SE 82nd and SE Foster was robbed by a similarly described Asian male in a similar manner.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located Duangchathom and took him into custody at the Wal-Mart at SE 82nd and SE Otty. Evidence related to the Foster bank robbery was recovered from Duangchathom.

Detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Portland Police Bureau responded and took over the investigation.

Duangchathom was booked into the Clackamas County Jail for his outstanding ID-theft warrants and his bank-robbery warrant.
