Incident collageUpdate (Thursday, January 29, 2015, 3:32 p.m.): Jeep located following Portland Police pursuit

Just after 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, a yellow Jeep -- believed to be the Jeep involved in the Verizon burglary from Clackamas this morning -- was in a pursuit with Portland Police.

During the pursuit, the vehicle drove behind a house in the 2400 bock of SE 142nd. The driver and passenger fled the vehicle, and have not yet been located.

The Jeep the suspects were driving had been reported stolen to Portland Police earlier today (Thursday, January 29, 2015).

Photos of the recovered Jeep are here, on our Twitter feed.

The deputy who investigated the Verizon burglary this morning traveled to the scene where the Jeep was abandoned -- and found evidence linking the Jeep to the scene at the Verizon store.

The stolen Jeep is still being examined at this writing. It is unknown if any of the stolen property is inside of it.

The soft top and light bar that was on top of it had been removed. The suspects had also spray-painted the hood.

EARLIER (Jan. 29, 2015, 10:48 a.m.)

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an alarm at the Verizon store at the Clackamas Promenade.

The alarm company had called to report that they had video inside the store -- and it was a burglary in progress. At 7:26 a.m., a yellow jeep with black top had smashed through the front window of the Verizon store, then parked in the street -- and then a suspect in the Jeep ran inside and stole items inside the store.

Surveillance video reveals the smash burglary took place over a 30-second period. The Jeep backed through the glass door of the Verizon. The Jeep stopped in the street outside, and a suspect exited the Jeep and stole display items inside -- items which were mostly useless once removed from the store.

Photos of the store damage and surveillance stills of the crime and suspect Jeep are attached. Tips are sought.

The suspect vehicle is described as follows:

  • Yellow Jeep with black top
  • Light bar with off-road lights
  • Possible damage to the rear
  • Black wheels and black fender flares

The suspect may have been wearing a wide-brimmed hat, and was only inside the store for approximately 10 seconds. However, surveillance video yielded excellent photos of the Jeep used in the crime.
