On Friday evening (Dec. 18), Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the 9000 block of Sunnyside Rd in Happy Valley, OR.

This location is a large intersection with an entrance to Clackamas Town Center to the north and an entrance to the Clackamas Promenade shopping center to the south.

When deputies arrived, they rendered aid to the pedestrian, who was on the ground, and assisted Clackamas Fire District #1 and American Medical Response, who also responded to the scene.

Deputies are currently investigating, but witness statements revealed the unidentified pedestrian reportedly ran across Sunnyside Rd. against the red signal. The driver, who was headed west on Sunnyside Rd., had a green light. The driver of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who appears to have serious injuries.

The unidentified pedestrian was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has cooperated fully with the investigation. At this time, there are no signs of impairment.

At this writing (Friday, December 18, 2015, 9:54 p.m.) two of the three westbound lanes of Sunnyside Rd. are closed while deputies from the Sheriff's Office Crime Reconstruction and Forensic Technician Team investigate. They expect Sunnyside Rd. to reopen completely by 10:30 p.m.
