Posted: Dec. 25-28, 2015
UPDATE (December 28, 2015, 2:35 p.m.):
The investigation into the shooting incident that occurred on December 15 ,2015 is still ongoing. The 2-year-old child is still in a Portland-area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives are continuing to investigate and interview all parties who were involved or witnessed the incident. At this time, the uncle of the child -- Luke Andrew Bowman, 24 years old, of Molalla -- has not been charged with a crime.
In the initial investigation, it appears Mr. Bowman was cleaning a handgun. He pulled the trigger on the firearm and there was a live round in the chamber. The bullet passed through a coffee cup, then into one cheek of the child's face before exited out the other cheek. The bullet then lodged into a wall at the home.
Detectives are reviewing all of the evidence, and will be forwarding the case on to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office.
