At approximately 9:53 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to pull over a 2008 Toyota Rav4 because the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Clackamas County earlier in the day.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, eventually ending in the City of West Linn. The suspect -- John W. Victor, a 27-year-old male -- then fled on foot and ran towards the Willamette River.

Sheriff's Office Marine deputies, along with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue personnel, were able to locate the suspect in the Willamette river, near the bank.

Marine deputies were able to take Mr. Victor into custody and transport him to shore where he was released to AMR and then transported to a local hospital to be treated for hypothermia.

Assisting the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was the Oregon State Police, West Linn Police Department, Gladstone Police Department, Oregon City Police Department, TVF&R and AMR.

As of 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 29, Mr. Victor is still being treated at a local hospital, updates to follow when available.

Video of Mr. Victor being taken into custody and transported via a CCSO marine vessel to the shore (.mov format) is here.
