K9 Coda and Sgt. O'NeilAt approximately 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017, a deputy assigned to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit located a suspicious vehicle at the Denny's located at 12101 SE 82nd Ave. in unincorporated Happy Valley.

The vehicle was a light-blue Honda Accord with switched license plates, and matched the description of a stolen car out of Portland.

A male and female entered the car a short time later, and when our deputy attempted to stop it, it failed to yield. The deputy pursued the vehicle for several minutes before he lost sight of it near Clackamas Town Center.

A short time later, an officer with the Milwaukie Police Department located the car, unoccupied, at the Steven's Orchards Apartments. Deputies began a dog track with CCSO K-9 Coda and ultimately located both occupants hiding inside of an apartment inside of the complex.

Deputies were eventually able to get all of the residents except for the suspect safely out of the apartment -- including three small children.

Several minutes later, the suspect exited the apartment and was safely taken into custody.

The suspect is identified as Patrick Emanuel Bent, 28. A booking photo of Mr. Bent is attached to this press release. Mr. Bent is currently lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Attempt to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering and an unrelated warrant. His complete booking info is here.

The female passenger has not been charged with any crimes at this time, and will not be publicly identified.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Milwaukie Police Department for their assistance with locating and safely apprehending Mr. Bent.
