The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrested Ryan Douglas Vanhorn, 35, after a pursuit of a stolen vehicle during which Mr. Vanhorn was the driver. The pursuit occurred in Clackamas and ended when Mr. Vanhorn crashed into a median. Photos and video are linked above.
At about 11 a.m. on Monday, September 4, 2017, Sheriff's Office Deputies located a stolen vehicle being driven by the only occupant, later identified as Ryan Vanhorn, on SE Sunnyside Rd near the Clackamas Town Center in unincorporated Clackamas County.
When the deputies attempted to stop Mr. Vanhorn and recover the stolen vehicle, he attempted to elude capture by speeding away from the Deputies. The pursuit ended on Hwy 212 near SE McKinley Ave when Mr. Vanhorn failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a low, concrete median.
Mr. Vanhorn surrendered upon stepping out of the stolen vehicle and was taken into custody. Clackamas Fire District #1 responded and rendered precautionary medical aid to Mr. Vanhorn because of the nature of the crash. There were no other injuries. Mr. Vanhorn was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and then transported to the Clackamas County Jail for booking.
Mr. Vanhorn was charged with Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, Attempt to Elude in Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering and Possession of Methamphetamine. Bail was set at $35,000. Mr. Vanhorn's complete booking info is here.
