Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance
The SHIBA program uses trained community volunteers to help seniors and persons with disabilities understand their health insurance benefits. Volunteers work one-on-one with those currently enrolled in Medicare and those who will soon be eligible for Medicare to increasing beneficiaries’ knowledge about benefits selection, billing issues, and appeals. Volunteers also provide assistance to beneficiaries during the Medicare open enrollment process.
