NEWS RELEASE: Sheriff's Office responds to report of a gun at Estacada High School

Date

Thursday afternoon, April 25, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to the Estacada School District received a report that a group of individuals had come onto the Estacada High School campus and interacted with students. One of these individuals reportedly made mention of possessing a firearm.

The Estacada School District implemented security measures, placing the high school and nearby schools in a secure status.

Multiple deputies and law enforcement from across the county responded to assist. It was quickly determined that the individuals were no longer on campus.

A search of the surrounding area was unsuccessful in locating the subjects seen on campus. After further investigation, it was determined no firearms were ever observed.

Secure status was lifted by the Estacada School District once it was determined that there was no active threat to students and staff.

Later in the day, deputies located and identified three teenagers and an adult, ages 15 to 18, in the Clackamas area who they believe were involved in the incident. No weapons were found, and the investigation is continuing.
