The investigation was led by the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes Team in collaboration with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office. Detectives from the Oregon City and Milwaukie Police Departments led the Major Crimes Team’s investigation, with assistance from Lake OswegoMolalla, and Sandy Police detectives.

(04/30/23) News Release

At around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 29, 2023, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 16000 block of SE 82nd Drive in unincorporated Clackamas County.

Responding deputies located a shooting victim with non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.  The victim pointed out the suspect vehicle to deputies as it was fleeing and deputies pursued the vehicle. 

The pursuit ended near SE 172nd Avenue and SE Scouters Mountain Road in Happy Valley. At the conclusion of the pursuit the suspect shot at a deputy and the deputy shot back striking the suspect.  No deputies were injured.

Lifesaving measures were administered; the suspect was transported to a local hospital by AMR and later died.

The involved deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to policy.

In accordance with standard protocol, the investigation is being led by the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes Team in collaboration with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office. Detectives from the Gladstone and Tualatin Police Departments are leading the Major Crimes Team’s investigation, with assistance from Lake Oswego, and Oregon State Police detectives.
