On Monday, May 5, 2025, the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the body recovered from the Willamette River on Sunday as 20-year-old kayaker Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez, who had been missing since April 12th after going over Willamette Falls.

Family notifications have been completed.

EARLIER (May 4, 2025): Sheriff's Office recovers body near Meldrum Bar Park

CCSO Case #25-009296

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to reports of a body found along the shore of the Willamette River, just north of Meldrum Bar Park in Gladstone. Deputies quickly responded to the location and observed the body in a difficult to reach location along the shoreline. The Marine Unit was able to access the location using boats and recover the individual.

Investigators believe this may be Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez, the 20-year-old kayaker from Porterville, California, who has been missing since April 12. The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and will be working to determine the person’s identity.
