Sheriff’s Office investigating death of 12-year-old boy

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, shortly before 8:45 a.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a juvenile that had shot themselves in the 5200 block of SE Glen Echo Avenue in unincorporated Clackamas County. When deputies arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound in the backyard of the home. The boy, who was still breathing, was quickly transported to a local trauma hospital, where he later died on Saturday, May 17th from his injuries.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office will be responsible for determining the cause and manner of death.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
