The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on multiple charges and recovered stolen tools following a theft-by-deception crime spree that attempted to use Facebook Marketplace to sell the stolen items. On July 10, 2025, the Sheriff's Office took a report from an employee at a Clackamas interior-supply store about a “theft by deception” resulting in the loss of thousands of dollars' worth of tools.
The employee reported that someone had called the interior-supply business on July 9th, posing as an employee of a drywall company. The caller used the drywall company's account number to purchase over $6,300 of tools over the phone. The fraudulent caller then told the employee that the people picking up the tools would use a verbal "password" because the caller "didn't trust anyone."
Later that day, a man and a woman arrived at the store, said the password, picked up the tools, and left in a grey-colored, four-door Chevrolet Bolt hatchback with Washington State license plates (surveillance photo attached). The employee called the drywall company to double check the sale and learned that the drywall company had not made the purchase. The employee then contacted the Sheriff's Office to report the theft.
Sheriff's Office detectives began an investigation and learned the theft appeared to be part of a larger crime spree. A similar crime occurred at the Portland location of the same interior-supply retailer the day before. In that case, a caller posing as an employee of the same drywall company used the company's account number to steal over $4,100 worth of tools.
Detectives also learned about Facebook Marketplace ads selling the exact same tools that had been stolen from the interior-supply retailer. Employees at the interior-supply store found the ads and were communicating with the Facebook account selling the tools. They were attempting to arrange a sale to recover their stolen merchandise and let detectives know they had contacted the possible suspect or suspects.
A meeting place to complete the Facebook Marketplace sale was arranged where they were met with detectives from the Sheriff's Office. Detectives took 40-year-old Zachery Gene Diluzio into custody. Mr. Diluzio was found to be in possession of a forged identity card and stolen items from the interior-supply retailer.
Zachery Diluzio was booked July 10th into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Organized Retail Theft, Identity Theft, Theft in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree.
This investigation is ongoing. Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are seeking tips.
We are releasing Diluzio’s booking photo for law enforcement purposes and is in accordance with Oregon House Bill 3273 for the identification of additional criminal activity.
