CCSO Shooting Scene

Just before 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded reports of a shooting in the 12000 block of SE Easthampton Street in unincorporated Clackamas County, near Happy Valley. A woman had told dispatchers that her husband had been shot.

When deputies arrived, a man later identified as David Lynn Jurgenson, age 72, was standing outside the home. Deputies had reason to believe Jurgenson was the shooter and safely took him into custody without incident. Deputies safely helped a woman and her small child outside of the home and then entered to find the victim, a 36-year-old man, in the living room.

Deputies worked to provide emergency medical aid to the man who appeared to be suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical crews arrived and took over life-saving efforts, but the victim died a short time later.

Detectives responded to the location and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.

David Lynn Jurgenson was booked into the Clackamas County Jail without bail on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
