UPDATE (August 18, 2025): Sheriff’s Office identifies man found in Willamette River

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of the man found in the Willamette River on August 14, 2025. According to the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office, the man has been identified as Eric Charles Meszaros, age 30 of Utah.

At this time, detectives do not suspect foul play and believe his death likely occurred shortly after crashing his vehicle on August 10, 2025, near McLoughlin Boulevard and Railroad Avenue in Oregon City.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and seek any tips from the public.

EARLIER (August 14, 2025): Sheriff’s Office responds to body found in Willamette River near West Linn

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a caller to 9-1-1 that a body was seen floating in the middle of the Willamette River, near the I-205 bridge. With assistance from Clackamas Fire, the unidentified man was recovered from the river.

Deputies did not observe any obvious signs of trauma, and the man appeared to have been in the river for some time. The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue the investigation.
