Deputies were initially dispatched to the location at around 8:20 p.m., after family members called 911 to report that a man had barricaded himself inside the house, with his wife and two children. They reported he was armed with a knife and had poured gasoline inside the home.

After several hours of negotiations, the suspect made an imminent threat toward his family, and team members entered the home to make rescue. Upon entry, a deputy assigned to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, and a Beaverton police officer assigned to the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team shot the suspect. The woman and two children were safely removed from the home.

The suspect died at the scene.

The involved Clackamas County deputy and Beaverton police officer have been placed on paid administrative leave, according to each agency’s policies.

In accordance with standard protocol, the investigation is being led by the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes Team in collaboration with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office. Detectives from Oregon City and Molalla are leading the Major Crimes Team’s investigation with assistance from Gladstone, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Oregon State Police, and West Linn Police detectives.
