Sheriff’s Office investigating death of 21-year-old man

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, shortly before 8:15 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man who had been shot at a shooting pit near Six Tie Road and FS-4510 in unincorporated Clackamas County, south of Estacada.

The victim, Szachary Tyler White, age 21 of Vancouver, WA, suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound and was being transported in a private vehicle from the remote area to get help. Deputies located them on South Hillockburn Road and began rendering aid until medical personnel took over. LifeFlight was activated and was going to meet medical responders at the Estacada Fire Station, but Mr. White died before he could be transported.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. White’s death and believes there is no danger to the public.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office will be responsible for determining the cause and manner of death.
