Grand jury indicts suspects from June 30 attack on deputies

DA sealOn July 10, a grand jury found two Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies to be justified regarding a use of force during a shooting on June 30.

The grand jury cleared deputies Dan Blair and Jeremy McKenna who returned fire in the case that involved Tyler James Scott and Joseph Ray Shaffer.

Criminal charges were also presented to the grand jury for the roles Scott and Shaffer participated in on June 30 that sent both Blair and McKenna to a local hospital with gun shot injuries.

Indictments were signed against both Scott and Shaffer. Scott has been indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of attempted aggravated murder
  • Two counts of first-degree attempted murder
  • Two counts of first-degree assault
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Second-degree burglary
  • First-degree theft

Shaffer has been indicted on the following charges:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • First-degree theft

Both Scott and Shaffer will be arraigned at 2 p.m. July 11.
