OREGON CITY, Or. -- A Wilsonville man who sexually abused a child for several years was sentenced to 25 years in prison Tuesday.
Eric Michael Shaw-Stearns, 38, was convicted after a bench trial before Clackamas County Circuit Judge Heather Karabeika earlier this month. She found him guilty on one count of Sodomy in the First Degree, three counts of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree and four counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.
The abuse began when the child was six years old and continued until the child was 10.
Some of Shaw-Stearns’ crimes were subject to Jessica's Law, an Oregon law that requires a 25-year mandatory minimum sentence for adults who are convicted of raping, sodomizing or sexually penetrating a child under the age of 12 years old.
Prosecutor Josh Cutino sought a 50-year sentence.
