DA seal OREGON CITY, Or. -- An armed robber who stole a pair of Air Jordan shoes at gunpoint was sentenced to 70 months in prison last week.

Martel Da’Jour Mason, 27, pleaded guilty in Clackamas County Circuit Court to Robbery in the Second Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Mason, armed with a handgun, confronted a man at an apartment complex near Clackamas Town Center on July 2, 2023. Mason demanded the man surrender his black-and-yellow Air Jordan 13 athletic shoes. The victim said Mason threatened to shoot him if he did not comply.

The victim flagged down a nearby Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputy and reported the crime. Deputies located Mason at an apartment near the shopping mall.

After obtaining a search warrant for the apartment, deputies found the stolen Air Jordan shoes, a silver and black Rossi .38 Special five-shot revolver and the clothing that fit the description of what Mason was wearing at the time of the robbery.

Mason has an open case in Multnomah County Circuit Court (24CR04939). He is charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree and several other crimes related to a Dec. 25, 2023 vehicle crash that killed a passenger in the car Mason was driving.

Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Escover prosecuted the case.

This was Clackamas County Circuit Court case 23CR31416.
