Appraisers with the Clackamas County Assessment & Taxation Department will be conducting reappraisals of residential properties and lots within the city of Canby and surrounding rural areas, within the city of Gladstone, and the small part of the city of Tualatin located in Clackamas County. The reappraisals will start in early November and are expected to last six-to-eight weeks, weather permitting.
A map of the properties in the Canby reappraisal areas appears below to assist in identifying the rural areas we will be reappraising.
The purpose of the reappraisal is to verify that building/land inventories are up-to-date and accurate to ensure fair and equitable assessments. In many cases, appraisers will not stop at properties, but simply have a look from their vehicles and snap a quick photo (no action from homeowners is needed).
Altogether, there are around 8,300 properties in and around Canby, 3,100 properties within Gladstone, and less than 1,000 in Tualatin that are included in this year’s reappraisal efforts.
What appraisers look like
Residents can identify our official county appraisers easily. They:
- drive county cars clearly marked with the county logo,
- work in teams of two (when conducting reappraisal),
- wear bright orange vests, and
- have county identification (badges) to identify themselves.
Clackamas County deeply cares about resident privacy and safety. We also deeply care about the safety of our staff, which is why we are promoting this action and our appraisers’ appearances, to ensure the community knows who they are and what’s going on.
