OREGON CITY, Or. -- A man who burglarized a Les Schwab store in Oregon City and attempted to steal tires valued at almost $2,700 was convicted Wednesday by Clackamas County jury.
Steven Allen Beaman, 45, was found guilty of Burglary in the Second Degree and Theft in the First Degree after a two-day jury trial.
Oregon City police officers responded to an alarm at the Les Schwab store, 1625 Beavercreek Road, just after 6 a.m. on March 26, 2025.
When officers arrived, they observed a tire rolling out of an open door of the building and saw someone running towards the wooded area behind the property. They found a 2019 Ram pickup with a bed full of new tires next to the building. The truck was registered to Beaman. There were eight tires valued at $2,667.92 in the back of the pickup.
Police contacted a woman, Ashley Marie Anderson, who was in the parking lot near the Ram truck. They found her purse in the truck. She said the truck was driven by a man named Brandon and he was giving her a ride home. Anderson, 29, later told police that Beaman drove his truck from Portland to Oregon City, entered the building and loaded his truck with tires.
Shortly after police responded to the burglary, Beaman reported that his truck had been stolen.
Beaman consented to a search of his cell phone and police located a recent internet search for Les Schwab. Police later obtained a search warrant that revealed that Beaman was at Les Schwab when he initiated the search, based on location data.
The jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before reaching a guilty verdict. Beaman will be sentenced on Nov. 13.
Beaman has been convicted of numerous crimes over the past 25 years, including burglary, theft, drug possession and Rape in the Third Degree.
Anderson was also charged with burglary and theft in the case. There is a warrant out for her arrest.
