OREGON CITY, Or. -- A Wilsonville man who shot his ex-girlfriend during an argument last year was sentenced Monday to 90 months in prison.
Brandon Edyl Arroyo, 42, pled guilty on Dec. 8 in Clackamas County Circuit Court to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Ninety months is the presumptive sentence under Ballot Measure 11 for Attempted Murder.
On Dec. 30, 2024, around 7:58 p.m., law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at 26300 SW Canyon Creek Road in Wilsonville.
Arroyo and the 33-year-old victim had been arguing about a child custody matter. When the victim and Arroyo’s new girlfriend got into a physical fight, Arroyo pulled out a handgun and fired multiple times towards the victim and two of her relatives.
The victim was shot in the chest. Bullets struck two nearby vehicles. Arroyo and his girlfriend fled the scene in his black 2025 Ram 1500 truck. Arroyo was arrested in Salem about three hours later.
The victim was transported to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital, where she was in critical condition and underwent two surgeries, including a partial lung removal and repair to the heart due to a bullet graze. She continues to recover from her injuries.
Deputy District Attorneys Josh Cutino and Rachel Erickson prosecuted the case.
