Governor Tina Kotek appointed Kathleen J. Rastetter to serve as Justice of the Peace at the Clackamas County Justice Court, effective this past Jan. 1. Judge Rastetter will fill the judicial position created by the retirement of Judge Karen Brisbin.
Kathleen Rastetter is an experienced civil litigator and public servant for Clackamas County, where having served as a pro tem judge and within the County Counsel’s office for several years. Ms. Rastetter has deep ties to Clackamas County, serving in both the legal and broader community.
Justice of the Peace is one of 11 total elected positions for Clackamas County. The others include the five commissioner positions, along with the Assessor, Clerk, District Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer.
The Justice Court hears violations, including traffic citations; small claims and civil cases up to $10,000; and landlord-tenant evictions issued in Clackamas County.
