Important Notice for Distant Rural and Mountain Residential Customers

Your garbage and recycling service fees are increasing. 

Dear customer:

Every year, Clackamas County reviews collection costs for garbage and recycling services in unincorporated areas. The costs for garbage and recycling are impacted by many factors including rising labor and fuel costs and regional factors like disposal costs charged to garbage and recycling companies. Due to these rising costs, it was necessary to increase the fees this year. 

The fee increase, that was effective beginning July 1, 2026, is described below using a common cart/can size as an example:

Collection service for household garbage and recycling in your area increased by $4.65 per month for a 32-gallon cart/can. (Note: Most collectors bill two months at a time).

Launching Soon: Residential Reduced Fee Program 

In alignment with community goals, a Residential Reduced Fee Program to support qualifying households is in development. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
