OREGON CITY, Or. -- Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney Rachel Erickson has been named Domestic Violence Prosecutor of the Year by the Oregon District Attorney’s Association.
Erickson, pictured with Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth, joined the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office in 2020 and now handles domestic violence and human trafficking cases.
“Rachel is an exceptional prosecutor who strives to make domestic violence victims safe and hold abusers accountable,” said Senior Deputy District Attorney Sarah Dumont, who nominated Erickson for the award.
“As her supervisor, I have observed firsthand her dedication and competence. She is fiercely intelligent, tactical and even-handed in the prosecution of her cases, and a zealous courtroom advocate who also embodies the characteristics of professionalism and friendliness,” Dumont said.
Erickson routinely goes above and beyond to obtain positive results for victims, including communicating and collaborating with victims, listening to jail calls, calling expert witnesses, personally appearing for release hearings, filing appropriate motions, and seamlessly trying cases, Dumont said.
“As Clackamas County strives to become the national gold standard for its approach to handling domestic and sexual violence, Rachel exemplifies the professionalism, tenacity, and quality of prosecution the public should expect,” Wentworth said.
Erickson, a Lewis & Clark Law School graduate, was admitted to the bar in 2019.
