Investing in Clackamas County businesses, jobs and opportunity
A strong local economy does not happen on its own. It is built by the businesses that open their doors, expand their operations, hire local workers and invest in their communities.
Starting Sept. 17, 2026, at 9 a.m., the Clackamas County Office of Economic Development will start accepting applications for its Business Development Grant Program, which offers competitive funding to support traded-sector businesses with capital or workforce development projects.
A total of $600,000 is available, with individual business awards of up to $100,000. Applicants must match all awarded funds 1:1. Eligible projects may include equipment purchases, facility improvements, staff training, and hiring. The county will evaluate applications based on economic impact, feasibility, and alignment with program goals.
Since the program launched two years ago, the county has invested more than $1 million in 22 Clackamas County businesses, helping support 262 existing jobs and creating 15 new ones
These numbers tell an important story, but they are only part of it.
When local businesses grow, the benefits reach beyond the business itself. New jobs create opportunities for workers and families. Business investment strengthens the local economy. Growing businesses contribute to the communities where they operate and help build a stronger economic foundation for the future.
Economic development is ultimately about people. By investing directly in local businesses, Clackamas County is helping create the conditions for businesses to succeed and for people to have access to opportunity close to home.
Applications close on Oct. 22, 2026, at 5 p.m.
